Use social networking sites to get traffic to your twitter page. Spread the word on youtube, facebook, myspace and hispace! Once you have 100+ followers then everything starts becoming easier.
A good trick- Try to have small but funny conversations with other people as some of their followers may follow you once the person mentions you.
Shoutouts- Give and ask for shoutouts from people relevant to you. It is not recommended after you reach 100 followers because then you may lose respect. If you still want shoutouts then pm them to send you a shoutout.
Follow your followers and retweeters- Announce that you will follow anybody and everybody who retweets your tweets in order to get many retweets!
